About Lanarkshire Deaf Hub

Lanarkshire Deaf Hub (operating as Lanarkshire Deaf Club SCIO) is the award-winning, leading, and solely deaf-led charity supporting individuals with hearing loss and deafness across Lanarkshire and the West of Scotland.

Since 2003, we’ve been connecting communities and championing accessibility and inclusion. Our commitment to these values is not just a part of our mission, but a part of who we are, with a growing membership – a testament to our enduring commitment to the cause.

Our mission is to connect, empower, and enrich the lives of the deaf and BSL communities through a wide range of services, projects, programmes, and initiatives.

We work to ensure that every person, whether Deaf, Deafblind, Deafened, Hard of Hearing, Hearing Loss, or Tinnitus, or connected through families, communities, or culture, has equal access, meaningful opportunities, and a strong sense of belonging.

Our Mission

At Lanarkshire Deaf Hub, we are dedicated to empowering and uplifting deaf and BSL communities in Lanarkshire and beyond. We connect, communicate, and collaborate with Public Bodies, including Local Authorities, Private Sector businesses, Third Sector charities, volunteer organisations, and groups to improve the lives and opportunities of individuals with hearing loss and deafness and their families.

Our Goals:

  1. We spread the word about our charity to individuals with hearing loss and deafness and their families, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding.

  2. We strive to forge strong, meaningful links between deaf and BSL communities with mainstream communities, breaking down barriers and improving access to language and communication.

  3. We encourage individuals with hearing loss and deafness to come together regularly for a supportive and dynamic deaf and BSL communities.

  4. We provide a safe, organised, and welcoming inclusive environment where individuals with hearing loss and deafness can thrive and engage fully.
